Webster entertained Mrs. Erb, Mrs. Caswell and Mrs. Korns at the ranch south of Milford last Tuesday at dinner and for the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Fotheringham are in Salt Lake City. They will attend at-tend the State Fair and attend to. business matters -in the Capitol City. Hober Hanks has built a, garage for the new Cole Eight between the Milford Hotel and the apartment house. Lemmon, the project blacksmith, black-smith, has been working at the dam the past week for the Delta Land I Water Co. ' sharpening tools for the drilling and concrete work in progress prog-ress there. Mr. Angus Buchanan came down from the Red Warrior Thursday evening ev-ening and went up to Salt Lake that same evening to meet Mrs. Buchanan, Buchan-an, who is visiting there for quite an extended time. 'I'lio members of the band of the National Guards stationed in Salt Lake are being treated royally prior to their leaving for Linda Vista. "Our Miss Sims" gave a dinner to a number num-ber of .the members on Tuesday last. The County Board of Education regular meeting was scheduled for yesterday at Beaver, but owing to the election the meeting was adjourned ad-journed to Saturday when all the re turns will be in and the vote will be officially canvassed. The school dance will be largely attended tonight at the high school auditorium. It is to be a forerunner of many more enjoyable occasions for the community at that center of educational and social activities this Fall and Winter. Mrs. Erb has returned to the homestead south of Milford to reside re-side for thirty days to comply with the law's requirements. She will be missed from musical circles during her absence from Milford. Mr. Erb is chief mechanic at the Milford-Bea-ver Auto Co. garage. - Millard Webster will leave for Corvallis. Oregon, next week, to reenter re-enter the State Agricultural College of that state, where he attended last year. He has been employed this summer on the home ranch and on the engineering and concrete work of the JBeaver County Irrigation Co. Val. Sandbotbe is taking contracts to clean the windows of business houses on Main street every week for a very low price per month. "Mr. Sandbothe has had much experience in such work being formerly a trained hospital nurse, and he is meeting with good success in landing land-ing the"contracts. Milford will soon be known as "Spotless Town" because be-cause of the attractive appearance of the store fronts. George Jefferson of the Jefferson Mercantile Company went to Salt Lake City Wednesday night to attend to business matters and to see the State Fair attractions and any other attractions that may offer a margin. Incidentally we mention the fact that the Mercantile Co. received enough soap this week to clean up politics in Utah if properly applied. Mr. Hall sold 100 tons at $16.00 per ton delivered f. o. b. Milford, which was a good sale, and the hay is first class. It was grown On the demonstration farm. , Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Street went to Salt Lake City last night. They will visit relatives and see the sights at the State Fair, and E. H. will attend to some business matters in the city and nearby towns before returning. return-ing. The indications are that there will be a busy threshing season on the project next summer. There has been a large acreage- of rye and wheat sown. The weather since seeding has been very favorable and the grain is getting a good start this Fall. F. M. Gray, of the Giant Powder Company, San Francisco, Was transacting trans-acting business with the Jefferson Mercantile Company in Milford this week. Mr. Gray is pleased with business bus-iness conditions throughout the busy Beehive State. Word comes that Isaac Cline, the pioneer head of the Golden Rule Store, who has been seriously ill from typhoid-pneumonia in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, Cal., is able to be out again and is gaining strength slowly but surely. He had a very serious illness. Harry Cushman, traveling passenger passen-ger agent for the Denver & Rio Grande R. R., was in Milford this week and swapped yarns with Agent Lichty of the Salt Lake Route. The latter now has a complete new stock and is worth listening to. Ask for the latest one about the exemption of the two recruits. Art Lewis yesterday received a letter from his brother Myron stating stat-ing that up to that time he had not received his final physical examination, examina-tion, but that he was sure he would pass. He says further that the great camp is fast becoming well populated popu-lated as every day brings train loads of recruits from all parts of the West. Miss Helen Palmer left Sunday evening for Los Angeles to remain for the winter. She will visit relatives rela-tives and attend college. Miss Palmer Palm-er was guest of honor at a luncheon Sunday at high noon at Hotel Atkin. This young lady leaves a host of admiring ad-miring and good true friends who wish her every success in her new venture, and will give her a hearty welcome when she returns. Dr. H. C. Hunter has departed for a trip to California. He expects to be absent about ten days. Dr. Hunter Hun-ter has been fortunate in securing the consent of Dr. S. H. Allen of the medical firm of Allen & Middleton of Salt Lake City to care for his patients pa-tients while on the well-earned vacation vaca-tion trip. Dr. Allen is visiting his relatives the McAlisters for a short time. He is one of the best known physicians of Salt Lake. Nate Stoddard is seeking a candidate can-didate for mayor of Milford. He has approached a great many and offered the position to them, but up to time of going to press he had failed to find any one absent-minded enough when the job was offered to accept the place, which Nate says he is sure he can deliver to 'most anybody. any-body. What he fears now is that he will have to take it himself, so he Is working very industriously on the matter. There is $25 per year and much honor and a splendid course in economy and financiering for the Mayor of Milford the coming year. : ! Attention is called this week to the special adv. of M.
