The most recent test went to 600 feet, but encountered a good flow in sand between the 500 and 600 foot level. The city had planned to use a Johnson screen to keep the sand out, but will analyze the sand for the proper screen for the job. They had hoped for a good gravel but feel they can get adequate ade-quate water without it. They previously drilled two holes at the race track to 600 and 900 feet and one at the northeast corner of town, but encountered only surface water, lacking quality and quantity for the city system. They set a public hearing for November 2nd at 7:00 p.m. for a variance for Bonnie Bon-nie Hardy to enclose her carport for a beauty shop. Wayne Wiseman, Jr. asked ask-ed what the city planned to do about the power poles In the alley between 500 and 600 west. He said that he thought that it should betaken betak-en care of before he gets his house completed, and property prop-erty fenced, which would shut off the alley to travel, Including In-cluding garbage pickup. Council noted that the poles should be moved and will notify UP&L. The problem prob-lem is aggravated by the fact that several properties on 500 West are encroaching on the alley with garages and fences. Councilman Bradshaw and Wayne Wiseman,Sr. propos ed that the Council allow them to complete sidewalks and driveways in their sanl-and sanl-and driveways in their subdivision sub-division after houses are built or moved in, or within one year if not developed. They argued that putting in driveways first, would not be consistent with where new owners might wantthem, and that modular or Boise Cascade Cas-cade homes that were moved in would break the sidewalk. side-walk. After some discussion the city agreed to. amend the agreement to allow sidewalks side-walks and driveways to be put in after construction of houses, or within one year. Mayor Young and the Attorney Attor-ney were authorized to work out the details. Bradshaw said that the streets In the subdivision would be surfaced and com -pleted next week.
