Show Local Items Mrs. C. R. Crandall and daughter, Anita, of Los Angeles have been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Edward Paxman. Mrs. Luther Giddings, Miss Irene Giciuings and Mrs. James Tattersall spent Wednesday of last week, in Salt Lake City. Mr. and ivirs. Thomas Avery and Mrs. Elton Hall, of Gardena, California, Cali-fornia, were visitors last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Tattersall. Mrs. Ray Ellison entertained the Bee Orchis club at the Bromley clubrooms, on Wednesday. Mrs. E. Ray Gardner was a special guest. Mrs. Boyd Page and baby of Columbus, Ohio, have arrived here to spend the summer with President and Mrs. Clifford E. Young. Mrs. Page is the former Helen Young. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Abel and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Preston have returned after an 11-days' trip to the Pacific Coast. They visited the San Francisco world's fair, spent several days in Los Angeles, and visited other points of interest. Bishop and Mrs. T. A. Greenwood were Lehi visitors on Memorial day. Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Shelley spent Memorial day in Pleasant Grove. Ernest and Leon Parduhn returned return-ed Tuesday from Detroit, Michigan, driving new cars. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Yergensen ! of Monroe spent Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Earl. Lois Parduhn Anderson, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, left Wednesday morning morn-ing for her home, after a three weeks visit here. Mrs. Ernest W. r-arduhn spent last week in Ogden, visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. D. ,L. Grant and Miss Dorothy Greenwood were visitors on Memorial day at the home of Bishop and Mrs. T. A. Greenwood. Sarah Earl and Ella Korth of Salt Lake City spent Saturday and Sunday Sun-day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Earl. Mrs. F. T. Shepherd of Paris, Idaho, and Mrs. Lloyd Carter of Ogden have returned home after a week's visit with relatives and friends in American Fork. Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Shelley attended attend-ed the postmasters' convention in Salt Lake City, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of last week. They attended the banquet Monday evening eve-ning at the Newhouse Hotel, at which Postmaster General James Farley was the principal speaker, and Mr. Farley, Governor Henry H. Blood and Mrs. Briggs, postmistress of San Francisco, were the honored guests. Mrs. Shelley was a guest at the tea given Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Smoot. Later, the Shelleys were taken on an air tour over Salt Lake county, in a large transport ship. Dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Warren F. Anderson Tuesday Tues-day were S. L. Anderson and sons, Miles and Leo; and Mr. and Mrs. James Phillips of Nephi; and Wayne Anderson of Spanish Fork. Guests of Mrs. Ann Cheever on Memorial day were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cheever and children of Cop-perton, Cop-perton, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nicholson Nichol-son and daughters of Midvale, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Felt and children of Fairview, Mr. and Mrs. George Ridd and daughters of Salina, Mr. and Mrs. James McNair and daughter daugh-ter of Salt Lake City. In honor of her daughter, Mrs. Reed Nicholes, a recent bride, Mrs. Earl Holmstead entertained at showers Wednesday and Friday evenings of last week. Mrs. Ellen Kearns assisted. On Wednesday evening, twenty-eight relatives of the bride were in attendance, and 37 friends were on the guest list for the shower Friday 'evening. Mrs. Nicholes is the former June Holm-stead. Holm-stead. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Sweeten attended at-tended the annual homecoming and May day celebration at Mendon Saturday. Immediately following the coronation of the queen, which was held on the public square, a Maypole dance by the children of the town was held. This was followed fol-lowed by a public meeting, at which addresses on the history of Mendon and the origin of the observance were given by Alexander Baker, John A. Gardner and G. G. Sweeten. Sweet-en. R. L. Sweeten directed the South Cache high school band in one number, "Washington Post", and the band, under direction of W. H. Terry, gave a concert. A varied program filled the day. |
