The Christensensreadin the newspaper that donations for schools and programs could be sent to the Nebo Education Foundation. With a new high school coming to their home town, Salem - of at least four generations, Lew and Evelyn wanted to help. They called the foundation and asked where the money might be needed. Principal Ann Anderson called back and let them know the school wanted a beautiful logo for the gymnasium floor but didn't have the budget to create it. Lew and Evelyn said no problem, and donated $9,700 for the new Salem Hills High School gymnasium logo. "This beautiful logo could never have happened without the Christensens, said Principal Ann Anderson. "This was simply not in our budget." Ed Palubinskas, the talented artist, freehanded this incredible piece of art. He works for USA Graphics, and has been commissioned to create logos for other high schools. 'This artwork makes our gymnasium unique. I love that it is truly a work of art," said Brenda Burr, assistant principal. The Christensens are noted for their many acts of service and donations. They donated extensively to the community ball park in Salem. The Christensens paved a walking path around their property just north of the new Salem Hills High School. Many people use the path to exercise. The beautiful holiday scenes on the old sugar factory are provided by the Christensen family. The Christensens sold their property to Nebo School District for the new Riverview Elementary in Spanish Fork. When asked about their many acts of service, Lew, with tears in his eyes, said, "What else would we do with the money? This way the money helps everyone. Everyone can enjoy it." Evelyn said, "We are happy to donate. We love living in Salem!" The Nebo Education Foundation was organized to bring businesses and donors, just like the Christensens, for the benefit of Nebo District school children. The foundation carefully manages and disperses tax deductible donations to local schools. Anyone interested in donating to Nebo District schools, classes or programs can do so through the Nebo Education Foundation. Your contribution is a tax deductible charitable gift as provided by law. Nebo Education is a 501 (c) (3) not for profit organization. Contact Lana Hiskey at 801-354-7400, e-mail lana. hiskey@nebo.edu or mail 350 South Main, Spanish Fork, UT 84660.
