Show The new Home Economics and Commons Building at the Utah State Agricultural College, which opens at the beginning of the Fall quarter, September 23, 1935. NEWLY COMPLETED STRUCTURE SURE TO BE POPULAR BUILDING I The opening of the new Home Economics and Commons Building at the Utah State Agricultural college col-lege will be one of the chief fea-tur fea-tur s of the first week of the fall quarter at the college which begins September 23. This splendid new structure, located just at the southeast corner of the college quadrangle, provid s the school of home economics with, the most modern facilities attainable, in addition to providing a center for student social life. Constructed as a P.WA project and thus supported by both Federal Fed-eral and State appropriations the new building is easily the most excellent one on the campus. It is a three story building and is large enough to house several departments de-partments as well as student rooms. The n w cafeteria will be located on the lower floor. The equipment for the cafeteria is now being installed and it will begin operation on the first day of the quarter. The cafteria will be directed by Professor Elsie Troeger, formerly of Columbia University. Miss Troeger has al-I al-I ready arrived on the campus and lis supervising thy installation of the equipment. ' " All of the major divisions of home economics, including foods and nutrition, textiles and clothing, cloth-ing, and child development and! parental education will be housed in the new building. In addition to larg t and more desirable quarters quar-ters these departments will have new laboratory equipment. Dean Christine B. Clayton of the school of home economics is of the opinion opin-ion that the new accommodations will make possibl-t considerably better training in all of the fields than has been possible before because be-cause of the lack of facilities. The department of public health and hygi me will also be located in the building. The book store Is being moved from the main building to the new student center, as well as student body, Student Life, and Buzzer offices. The worn m's reception re-ception room, located on the second se-cond floor is an exceedingly beautifully beau-tifully decorated and furnished and is certain to be immensely popular with th? men on the campus. Although plans for a dedication ceremony are not complete com-plete there will be no postponement postpone-ment of the opening of the building build-ing for school work on SeptemV-r 23rd. " |
