Show PICKPOCKET HELD BY COURT John King, tho man suspected of being a professional pick pocket was given bis preliminary hearing In police po-lice court this morning and bound over to the district court. King was arrested at the Fair Grounds, on September 30, and charg ed with attempting to steal $18 from the pocket of John Hothwell Moth-well Moth-well on the stand stated that he was watching one of the races from the grand stand steps and was holding in his arms a child Hack of his flood King who appeared to be deeply deep-ly interested In tho race. King pushed hard aaginst Hothwell and tho latter asked hlni to "stop crowding." crowd-ing." "It's a great race." said King and pressed harder against the man in front as the horses neared the finish. Interested though he was In the dash of the horses, Hothwell was not oblivious to the feci of a man's hand slipping Into his pocket. He turned and his elbow struck the hand of King In the pocket were two purses. The thieving hand got neither of them and King, seting that he had been detected, slipped away through the crowd Later he was arrested by Jailer H. Anderson who was on the grounds and had received a description descrip-tion of the man. The attempt of King's attorney to break down Hothwell's tory was futile. fu-tile.
