Show MINE VICTIMS ARE ALL DEAD STARK VI LLE, Colo. Oct. 11. Kiev-en Kiev-en bodies of victims of Saturday night's explosion in the great Colorado Fuel & Iron company's mine here are lying tonight in the Starkville morgue. Nine have hen identified. All the men were pickmen working In entry J and It is believed all were killed by force of the explosion and not suffocated suf-focated later. The report brought disappointment for company ofllcials and watchers, who had hoped that the last of the eleven bodies found in J entry would be removed to the' morgue before tonight. to-night. Tonight nine are still behind 1.000 feet of the new stopo piled high with broken timber and thousands of tons of debris dislodged by the terrific blast. Ml day a large force has been engaged en-gaged in leveling a trail over the debris de-bris and pulling loosened rocks from tho -roof to clear a passageway over which volunteers can carry the recovered recov-ered victims to the waiting death cais. Another rescue party led by J. T. Thomas and Dave Griffith has taken 1 1 1 the task of completing the trail ami removing the bodies. With tills done the rescuers will push their way into the L entries In the old workings, wlure 11 missing are believed to bo entombed. Late this afternoon the day shift bratticed off the J entries and changed chang-ed Ihe direction of the iortable fan, which Is now forcing air into the old workings. It Is freely admitted that all hope Jjas been abandoned of finding life williln the underground labyrinth. |
