Show JAPANESE h MUNICIPAL COURT Tho case against the White Ship saloon proprietors, Y. Nabashlma aud E. Hlna, both Japanese, continued from Saturday morning, was again continued until tomorrow morning by Judge Murphy, after tho hearing of several witnesses at this morning's session of the municipal courL The two Japs ore charged with selling sell-ing Intoxicating liquors to Frank Brown, a minor, 17 years of . age. Brown testified Saturday that on tho 13th of August he had purchased several sev-eral glasses f beer in the White Ship saloon and also a half pint of whiskey, whis-key, the Imbibing of which produced a mental and physical collapse to such a degree that when the youth was arrested by an officer ho was beyond be-yond realizing the fact. This morning the defense produced a number of witnesses who gave testimony tes-timony of a very favorable nature to the saloonkeepers. . Mrs. Hagbort Anderson, wife of tho jailer, was called to the stand by the defense, and swore that the boy after his arrest had stated that ho got his liquor from the Ranch saloon and from tho Jap9' place. Special Officer Harbertson also testified that young Brown had mentioned the Ranch saloon sa-loon before ho had mentioned the place conducted by tho defendants. Dexter Ellis, a young mechanic, was produced by tho defense and stated on the 6tand that ho was in the White Ship saloon at tho time when Brown Is supposed to have purchased purchas-ed tho intoxicants and did not see the young man como n the place. The wtness was very positive that the minor could not havo secured a drink during the time ho was in the saloon. Two Jap witnesses swore that at about the time the young man claims he secured the drinks from tho Jap saloon he was being put out of a pool room by them nnd sent In nn opposite direction from the White Ship saloon. |
