Show THE SCHOOLS OF TINTIC; LABOR DAY PROGRAM Eureka. Aug. 21. Sheriff Gus J Hcnriod of Juab county Is in the southern part of the state. His object Is to secure several horses which have been stolen from this county recently and to arrest the thieves to whom he. has a pretty good clue. During Sheriff Sher-iff Henrlod's absence. Deputy Sheriff Otto Whltbeck will have charge of the sheriffs office. John Ivcy has Just completed taking the school census of Eureka, and re ports 1078 children of school ago, 543 being boys and 535 firls. The public schools of the city will open on September Sep-tember 6. Miss Agnes Nolan of Salt Lake has been employed by We school board to teach the pupils of the eighth grade. Mrs. Bessie Camp, who has had charge of the school at Knlght9-vllle, Knlght9-vllle, has tendered her resignation. Professor A. R. W. Hlntze, a teacher in the Stato university, will have charge of the high school classes of the Eureka school. The vacancy In the superintency of schools has not been filled by the board, nor that of teachers for tho fourth gTade. Appointments Ap-pointments will probably be made next week, when the trustees hold their regular meeting. The school board of Mammoth City, which comprises the twin camps of Mammoth and Robinson, have employed em-ployed the following corps of teach ers for the coming school term. Principal, Princi-pal, Robert H. Towers of Robinson; high schools, J. T. Iloyt of Nephl; sixth and seventh grades, Miss Kate Htizer of Colorado; lower grades. Miss Helen Stanford of Scofleld. Miss Johnson of Mllford, Miss Augusta By-lund By-lund of Provo. Miss Hazel Andnis, Mrs. C. H. Rlsllne and Mr. Mary Doane of Mammoth. Preparations have bem about completed com-pleted by the different local unions for a grand celebration on Labor day September 5. There will be a grand parade In the morning and most of tbe business houses will be represented represent-ed bv floats. The Carpenters' union will have one of tho finest floats ever seen lu Utah. The grotesque section of the parade will be under the supervision super-vision of Frank Morley, who promises some stunts that It will be worth corning corn-ing a long distance to see. Miss Ella Dnllln has been sleeted as Goddess of Liberty, and will be attended by her maids of honor. The committee has secured ample funds to make the day a memorable one In the anuals of labor. la-bor. In tho afternoon there will be a bnsebajl game Free dance at the pavilion pa-vilion for tho children of Tlntlc. with candy, nuts and lemonade. Fporfs and contests of all kinds will be held on Main street for old and young. A grand ball at the Elks' pavilion will wind up the festivities of the day. |
