Show HIGHWAY BOARD J ISSUES BUDGET REPORT Summary of the budget of the state road department for the year 1927. prepared by C. F. Dean, chief accountant ac-countant of the department, shows that some 53.274,783.32 will pass through the hands of the state road commission this year. The summary shows the source of each dollar to be expended, and also to what use it has been, or will be put. It is shown by the survey that federal fed-eral aid will be the largest single source : of revenue, yielding S1.553.4S9. 16. The : surplus from collections, gasoline tax and motor vehicle registration yielded some SI. 189.000. The road department however, was forced to draw something like S315.000 from this to complete its 1926 program," leaving only a net of 5874,000 from this latter source. It is estimated that collections made by the public utilities commission will yield about 520.000, while the rental of the ; equipment to counties will bring an additional ad-ditional 560,000. State road department figures show that boards of county commissioners will be called upon to furnish a total of S659.597 to match the federal aid, and the railroads wil be asked for $81,-000 $81,-000 because of overhead crossings and line changes expected to benefit the railroads. Construction program of the board for the year calls for $2,234,940. Something Some-thing like 5624,698 will be expended on general maintenance, and $142,765 will be spent on betterment projects. The construction program is composed com-posed entirely of federal aid projects of minor line changes and improvements. The summary shows that general office of-fice and administration expenditures, including salaries of all office employees em-ployees and department heads, will amount to about $60,000; maintenance administration to an additional $35,-000, $35,-000, and the purchase of equipment, repairs re-pairs to equipment, and general supplies, sup-plies, approximately $110,216.32. In addition, ad-dition, the sum of $67,164 has been set ' aside for the oiling of highways in an effort to find an intermediate type of road between the gravel and paved surfaces. |
