In some instances as many as five thousand thou-sand experiments were made to perfect a single formula. Not long ago we read of a similar instance of devotion to a calling in which Maude Slye, an American pathologist, has devoted thirty years to the study of cancer. During this time in her experiments she has used 138,000 mice. The old maxim: 11' nt first you don't succeed try, try again, evidently is one of the cardinal rules of explorers in the realm of science. |
