Biography of Captain Bonneville Captain Bonneville made the first good map of the Great Basin by getting information from the Indians and the fur traders. He was an army officer and got permission per-mission from the war department to go and trade furs and to explore ex-plore the land. He was on his expedition ex-pedition from 1832 to 1836. In 1833 he reached the northern shore of the Great Salt Lake. Howard Moody. How I Learned to Like Reading One day I was walking home with my school mate. He had seven books and I had five. I said, "May I look at your books?" He said, "Yes." The first book was "Treasure Island." Next was "Tailspin Tommy", and then, "The White Indian Boy." I never took time to look at the rest. I thought "The White Indian Boy" was a queer name and from that day till : this it has been my favorite book, j -Alfred Horton. We are studying about Utah and we would like to find out all about j Lake Bonneville. We have been having a hard time to find any thing about it. We go to the library li-brary and try to find information. We ask our fathers and mothers but they don't seem to know much about it. It seems that not even older people know anything about it. Ruth Bond. FIFTH GRADE Dancing Almost every recess when Miss Killam isn't too busy, she goes to the music room and plays the piano so that we may dance if we like. SIXTH GRADE In our nature study-we are studying about reptiles, amphibians amphi-bians and fish. We have just finished fin-ished non-poisonous snakes of our own and other countries. Even though they are not poisonous some are constrictors. This means that they do not kill by poisoning, but wrap around their victims and squeeze the life out of them. Some we need not be afraid of, but others, even if not poisonous, we must look 0ut for. We learn many interesting things and will know these snakes better if we ever see them. We will now start to study about the poisonous kinds and I am sure they will be just as interesting inter-esting as the others. Shirley Young. When the first snow fell the girls in our room had great fur playing fox and geese. Now it is ry cold and we play ping-pong and other games which the children chil-dren bring to school. We. will be be glad when it gets warm again so we can play basketball and base hall. Ruth Gressman.
