Saxton of the Kaysville Reflex was elevated from the vice-presidency vice-presidency to the presidency of the Utah State Press association Saturday Sat-urday at the annual election, and Val Cowles of the Price Sun-Advocate was elected vice-president. Hendrik Romeyn of Salt Lake, "Heinie" to all the boys of the press, was reelected as secretary-treasurer secretary-treasurer of the state association associa-tion unanimously and enthusiastically enthusi-astically though the others met i with some opposition. j All business meetings were held in the convention room of the Newhouse hotel while the social functions were held in the various . banquet rooms of that popular hostelry. hos-telry. The association went on record as favoring those things that will be for the best interests and growth of the state and pledged the members mem-bers to do everything within their power toward this end. Copies of proposed bills to repeal prohibition of dental advertising were presented but the association refrained from endorsement of either measure though standing unalterably opposed to curtailment of the freedom of advertising by statute. The sympathy of the press association members is rather with the organized dentists in their fight on the so-called "unethical" dentists, but they believe that the difficulty should be handled by putting "teeth" (no pun intended) in the "truth in advertising" laws rather than to legislate against the freedom to advertise. i |
