On Christmas morning Pontifical High Mass took place at 5 o'clock, when the Senior Girls' Choir of the Convent School sang, and their earnest efforts have merited much praise from all who heard them. The Mass was learned for the occasion occa-sion and the practice for it after school curing the months of November and December was woll attended and done with a good will. Miss Carrie. Welsh wa:- the organist, agan ths year, and Misses Helen McDevitt and Helen Keefe supplied the violin music, while Mis.s Anna Ketcham accompanied on the cello. The Reverend J. Duffy preached at this Mass. At S o'clock Mass the Junior Choir pang Christmp.s Hymns, which were very devotional t. rid well sung. They were "Holy Night," "The Snow Lay on the Ground," "Noel." "Ansrcls. We Have Heard on Higji." and "What Lovely Infant Can This Be?" a.ne irtvnflii V..UUM iu'.j i-anri iuc praise and thanks of the congregation for their beautiful singing at High Mass at 10:20. Misses Helen McDevit! and H. Keefe again accompanied or. their violins. The grand sermon rtelh ered by the Right Reverend Bishop at fiis Mass v.as enjoyed by all who h?ar3 " .TheTatbedfal altars were prettily Ae.ccrated and prepared for the feast with Ihe usual care and dtA'ctkm by the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus. The Crib at the Convent is receiving rre-qumt rre-qumt visits of the children and devout friends who love to contemplate this representation of Bethlehem Cav-:. It Is as artistically erected as other years and naturally attracts visitors to come there and pray. The Convent Chanel is a vision of beauty, having been newly renovated and beautif-.'lly decorated with pi.vals and flowers. It calls forth admiration The Choir children enjoyed a te?. party at the Convent on Thursday afternoon, aft-ernoon, given as a reward for regular attendance. There were about forty present and from three o'clock until seven they played games, danced, etc.. besides nartaking of a bountiful repast, re-past, to 'which th?y did full justice. There are but five hoarders left at the Convent for the vacation and these seem to know how to get enjoyment out of every passing event. Ths year the Christmas gifts wrrked by the young ladies, were prettier than ever and are a great pleasure to their parents, par-ents, who fully appreciate the talent of their devoted daughters. Misses Marie Coyne. Oliva Roush and Margaret Miller were, home at Sheridan in time to prepare the Altars in the Church for Christmas, and to riav and sing at th.; Mass there and at De'tz, a few miles distant. They had pi rpared this pious work at the convent, con-vent, instructed by the sisters. |
