Show AMUSEMENTS. The announced appearance of Florence Flor-ence Roberts at the Salt L.ake theatre for her annual engagement is fraught with more than the ordinary interest., for she comes this time as a Broadway star, where heretofore we have been wont to claim her as strictly a product of the west, but the fact that she journeyed jour-neyed to the center of things theatrical last season and made a name for herself in that overcrowded dramatic stronghold, strong-hold, will but lend an added stimulus to the desire to see her in the play that she used to show the easterners that she could not only act. but that i i ihe future she must be re.konvl with as cue of the foremost of the rmctioii portraying por-traying women of the stage. This fact is better emphasized by the knowledge that she is to present a new play at Daly's theatre on Brood way, .md it is scheduled to run Ihe balance of the season sea-son and, too, we are to have a peep at the new play in conjunction with the one she produced there last season, for she gave the n?w bill a try-out last Week in Seattle, and its reception by the critics of the city by the ou id was such as to warrant the belief that she has a worthy successor lo her present vehicle. When she comes to the local stage wc will have a peep at the latest offering long before a road tour has worn away the tinsc! and dampened the ardor of the player folk. The engagement, engage-ment, which is for four nights, will l.e divided between the two plays with a matinee of the first night's bill. |
