Show j HELENA, MONT. j Mrs. W. B. Cochran. . who has . been visiting her brothers, F.,E. Kessler and C. N. Kessler. the past month, eft j-es-terday for Washington, D. C. .where she will visit with Captain Cochran's mother. Mrs. J. II. Cochran, of the Plains, Virginia. . The funeral of Thomas E. Philbin. the contractor .and plasterer, who died Sunday Sun-day evening, of pneumonia, -was held Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock from the Cathedral of the Sacred Hearts. Interment w as at the Catholic cemetery. ceme-tery. Mr. Philbin was a brother of Mary E. Rogers. . of 114 Fifth avenue. ; and of John Philbin. of Billings. He was a nephew of Mrs. Fred Reese, of Lawtonf Oklahoma. Mr. Philbin was well and favorably known both in Butte and Helena. He was a member of . the Plasterers' union, the members of which attended the funeral. fu-neral. Santa Claus made his annual visit to St. (Joseph's orphan home Christmas eve. Three hundred, shouting, laugh.--, ing,i crying children ran ! and ; danced ' In i - 1 . ' ' ' glee when Santa announced his coming com-ing with the jingling of bells. The older-children older-children were more sedate, but then-eyes then-eyes sparkled with joy. while the affair af-fair was too much for the little ones and thev scampered as fast as their toddlmg" lcs would take them to the protection of the kindly sisters. j The instant Santa 'stepped into the) spacious' hall in ihe rear of the orphan- j age wheie the exercises were held, pan-j denaonium reigned. Some screamed in, j affright-aiid ran to the farthest and j darkest corners , of the room, where thev peeked timorously at this strange- J looking patron Taint of the children. Others of the children were more bold and grasped the fringe of Santa's long j robe, or made a quick grab at the flowing flow-ing beards, skipping quickly away laughing joyotuly. ! As the children became accustomed to Santa's presence and tiie no'-eir- ' j bavin the children's benefactor with j them wore off. they became quiet and 1 waited expectantly for the disaibucion j of the presents. j |
