Show DR. PAUL IS PRAISED BY WEST VIRGINIAN Mayor Ferry Eeceives Pertinent Reply to Letter Sent to Official in the East. The services of Dr. Samuel G. Paul, former city health commissioner, have been recommended to Salt Lake City by the state of West Virginia, It came about through an inquiry sent by Robert N. Young, secretary to Mayor W. Mont Ferry, to the state health commissioner com-missioner of West Virginia for information infor-mation as to the methuds iu practice there for ridding the state of noxious weeds. It was in the answer sent Secretary Young by Dr. Harold B. Wood, assistant assis-tant health comiinssioner of West Virginia, Vir-ginia, that recommendation is made -that Salt Lake City appeal to its former health commissioner on problems of health and sanitation. The letter from Dr. Wood quotes the weed law of his state, the quotation being followed by the assistant health commissioner's comment. "The momentum," writes the commissioner com-missioner with reference to the effectiveness effective-ness of the law, "can be judged by the fact that as far as we know you are the first one who has made inquiry in this office about a state weed law. Personally Person-ally I am not in favor of state weed laws, as they are probably not followed anywhere." The final pertinent bit of advice is included iu the following paragraph. , which is the closing one of the letter: Judging from the great progres-siveness progres-siveness of Salt Lake City I hardly would suggest your going outside of your own limits for devising state ordinances. I have Ion" admired the work which the Salt Lake City health department has been doing, and I am sure Dr. Samuel G. Paul can be of marked assistance to you. |
