Show REGULATION HELD TO BE DISCRIMINATORY WASHINGTON. May 1 . A regulation of transcontinental railroads, limiting the application of commodity rates from California terminals to eastern destinations destina-tions to articles shipped In boxes "made entirely of wood or of wood and metal," today was held by the interstate commerce com-merce commission to bo unreasonable and unjustly discriminatory. The commission held thai articles could bo shipped in "fiber-board, pulp-board pulp-board or double-faced corrugated straw-board straw-board boxes, although the rules, with respect to tho construction, packing and sealing of fiber boxes should be rigidly enforced and tho shipper held responsible for any violation thereof." Tho case was brought to tho commission commis-sion by U. W. Prldham of Los Angeles, Cal.. and way bitterly contested- by the roads. |
