Show WILL DEMAND RETURN OF IGUOTE GJRLS Man Bringing Twelve Native Filipinos to America Arrested Ar-rested at San Francisco. SAX FRAXCISCO. May 1. Harry Miller, alias Indian Miller, was arrested by United Slatos marshals here today on board the liner Tcnyo Mara as that vessel completed Its journey from the orient. With Miller were twelve Igor-rotos, Igor-rotos, also detained by tho federal authorities, au-thorities, some of whom aro fiaid to bo minors. Miller Is held as a violator of article -JS6 of thi Phillpplno penal code, which protects the inducing of minors over 7 years of age to leave their parents or guardians. A second count of abduction abduc-tion is named in tho complaint made by M. A. Thomas. The arrest was mado upon tho receipt of a telegram from Attorney General Mc-Reynolds Mc-Reynolds in Washington to United States District Attorney Preston, advising him of the Issuance of warrants for Miller and Harold L. Anfangcr on the same charge. Anfangcr did not accompany Miller, but Is expected here on the next steamer from Hongkong, where the party detained boarded the Tenyo Maru. The telegram also renunsts ihn Inrul authorities to return to Manila on the United States transport Sherman, which leaves here May R, the two Igorrote girls, Kinallng Toyacan and Adamag, who arrived ar-rived with Miller. Miller stoutly denies that any of the members of his party are minors, with the exception of his own child. Ho says the Igorrotes aro members of .a troupe which he and Anfangcr are assembling here for exhibition purposes. The war department requests that, the ten remaining Igorrotes be returned to the Philippine Islands through arrangement arrange-ment with the Toyo Klsen Kalsha. Miller ascribes his arrest to Filipinos working for Independence, who fear their campaign might bo injured and their chanrcs of success lessened through false-Impressions false-Impressions gained hy the public through exhibitions of native life In the Philippines. |
