Considering that in nearly every district dis-trict of the city many of the firms and individuals had already subscribed, this showing is regarded as most remarkable. remark-able. It is behoved to havo been the first time in the history of tho city that any buch amount was raised in a single day for a public purpose of this nature. The highest score for subscriptions was mado bv tho Salt Lako Advertising Advertis-ing club, which had an active commit-too commit-too out. under the leadership T. F. Thomas. Another point brought up 3'ostcrday was the large number of prosperous business bouses in 'Salt Lako City which aro owned bv outside people and whoso headquarters are in other cities. Tho committeemen said that in most instances local managers claimed they had not the authority to come into the fund, so strong appeals will bo made to the head offices. It was argued at tho meeting that the foreign concerns get as much benefit out of the advertising of the city and state and their development as concerns owned at homo. Mrs. Allen D. Campbell, an oldorly woman who owns property on East Broadway, yesterday turned in a subscription sub-scription to tho fund. "1 think every propert' owner should support this movement," she said. |
