Carrying 102 Oakland Shrinors and their wives, about fort' of whom were in tho party, a palatial special train of eight coaches arrived in Salt Lako yes-torday yes-torday afternoon. Tho Shriners aro on thoir way to tho imperial council mooting moot-ing at Atlanta, Ga. Tho train remained in tho city until 6 o'clock, during which time the visitors wcro royally entertained by members of El Kalah tcmplo, Nobles of tho Mystic Shrino. The. train pulled in about 3 o'clock and was mot by a delegation of the local order and a battalion of local police. po-lice. A parade, consisting of the Arab patrol, the baud, the police battalion and automobiles carrying the other visitors and members of the local committee, com-mittee, marched to the tabernacle, where a special organ recital was given. Aftor the organ recital the Oakland band played a concert and tho visiting Arab patrol gave a marching demonstration demon-stration on Main sr.roct, between North Temple and South Temple. This was followed by an automobile ride around the city. The guosts were shown Salt Lake's Commercial club and served with refreshments at the club before thev left. Tho Oakland special came in over tho Western Pacific and went out over tho Denver & "Rio Grando. The special train consisted of four standard sloep-ei'P. sloep-ei'P. a dining car, observation car, buffet ear and ono baggage car. The Los Angeles Shriners, who camo in over the Salt Lake Route, arrived at .12:20 this morning and left at 12:45. In their honor many railroad whistles were turned loose and hundreds of calls were received by Tho Tribune, asking as to the demonstration. Tho San "Francisco Shrino special passed through Ogdcn by way of tho Southern Pacific and Union Pacific, Pa-cific, and tho Fan Diego special went east over the Santa Vc. All four trains will combine at Kansas City and together to-gether tour the east before proceeding to the convention at Atlanta. |
