(By The Associated Press) Most of the Germans in the retiring army, the retreat of which the Americans are following, havo shown eagerness jto return to their homes immediately' and engage in their civilian occupations, according to reports. Not a great deal of discipline among tho German troops moving along the roadways is reported. Instances of looting in various regions arc occurring, oc-curring, according to accounts coming in. but mose of these are individual cases. The German commanders continue to communicate with the Third army by wireless, informing the Americans of the Germans progress each day. On Sunday the wireless was interrupted at times. Two officers with a white flag crossed tho bridge over the moselle! mo-selle! at Wasserbillig therefore, carrying carry-ing messages. Theso were the last Germans to set foot in the line held by the Americans. The officers remained re-mained only a few moments, as they said they had a long way to travel to reach their regiments. |
