Show British Concerns Are Encouraged ! For Brazil Cities; i SAN PAULO.' Brazil, Oct. 29. The I British Chamber of Commerce in San Paulo has undertaken to encourage the largest posslblo number of British concerns to come to Brazil to compete com-pete against its own members. Thlsj policy was announced after the last annual meeting, following a discussion as to whether a British Chamber of Commerce exists for the benefit of Its o.wn members or for tho benefit of the British empire. There was bitter antagonism at first to this policy, members of the chamber cham-ber arguing that it would spoil their chances to have other British firms established in Brazil. Those in favor of the new policy argued that they would have to face strenuous competition compe-tition in Brazil after the war no matter mat-ter what they do now and said they preferred to compete with fellow Britishers Brit-ishers in the common cause of out-competing out-competing other nations rather than to fight alone tho Gorman, American and Japanese competition regarded as certain cer-tain to rollow the cessation of hostilities. hostil-ities. It was then decided to devote preferential pre-ferential energy to helping other British concerns established in Brazil in advance of other nationalities. |
