Show Alonzo .Hooley Funeral Rites Set for Thursday Alonzo E. Hooley, 95, whose lifetime spanned nearly a century and who lived to see his town of Lindon change from an isolated agricultural area to one of suburban sub-urban homes, died Monday afternoon after-noon at 'the home of a son, Roy. Mr. Hooley was born July 22, 1864 in Pleasant Grove to parents par-ents who "had com as handcart immigrants to Utah from England Eng-land and he moved to Lindon as a small boy. He was a son of Thomas and Harriett Nerdin Hooley. He was a farmer and lived all of his life in Utah Valley. He was a high priest in the LDS Church and served as president pres-ident of the North Union Irrigation Irriga-tion Co. for some years and was president of 'the Lindon Threshing Thresh-ing Machine Co. Ha married Sarah Matilda Park in Pleasant Grove March 8, 1886. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. She died March 24, 1957. They had celebrated their 71st -wedding anniversary. Survivors include six sons and three daughters: Will, Roy, Arnold Arn-old and Verland, all of Lindon; Leo and Leonard of Oram; Mr3. Ray (Merl) Kirk of Midvale; Mrs. Arnold (Delila )Clegg of Provo, and Mrs. George (Nelda) Perry of American Fork. He has 54 grandchildren, 154 great-grandchildren and 20 'great, greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, Sept. 3 in the Lindon iSecond Ward Chapel at 11 a.m. under the direction of Bishop Bish-op Kenneth H. Gillman. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. |
