Show City Warns Builders, Workers About Inspection of Projects ' The plumbing, building, zoning, and electrical codes of this City have for a long time required that every person make application for, and obtain, a permit before commencing work on any project or contract within this City. In the past the Building and Inspec-ion Inspec-ion Departments have only asked that plumbers, electricians and excavators notify the City office when and where they will be working so that prepore inspections inspec-tions can be made in order to safeguard safe-guard the interests of the owner as well as the City. However, durinjr the past several sev-eral weeks there has developed an epidemic of violations wherein where-in workmen from out of town have done wiring and plumbing and even excavations for build- . ings, without notifying 'this department, de-partment, and in some oases have been paid and left the matter of calling for inspection up to the owner, much to his sorrow. In order to protect the owner and place responsibility for calling call-ing for inspections squarely upon up-on the Contractor and Mechanic, the ordinances of this City, as they apply to permits and inspections, inspec-tions, will hereafter be enforced. All Contractors are advised to become be-come familiar with both State and City requirements. Applications can be made at the City Treasurers office any work day. They will be checked and permits processed within 24 hours of receipt. Commencing September 14th, the Inspector will be at the City Hal five days a week at 9:30 ajn. to issue permits and aid owners and contractors con-tractors in making a start. |
