Show Pusic Festival Climaxes IDS Stake Conference The Roosevelt Stake quarterly quarter-ly conference was 'climaxed Sunday Sun-day night by the M-I-A- music festival, under the direction of Clyde Johnson, Stake Mutual music leader, with Mr$- Barbara Lowe, pianist. Approximately 40 voices of a ladies and mixed chorus sang "Cherubim Song," by Bortnian-sky, Bortnian-sky, arranged by Tschaikowsky; 'Father- Most Merciful," Caesar Fianck; "Prelude,"' Ronald; "Echo," "Ec-ho," di Lasso; "Orchestra Song," traditional; and "Great and Marvelous Mar-velous Are Thy Works," by Gaul. Soloists were Anna Buchanan, Bu-chanan, Gertrude Moysh, JeNee Benson, Elaine Hullinger, and Bennie Schmiett. Mrs. Hullinger and Mrs. Mary Ellen Gardner presented an organ or-gan and piano duet, "Serenade," by Schubert. Harold Rendles-baeh Rendles-baeh presented "Angel's Serenade" Sere-nade" and "Berceuse" on his violin. A chorus of 24 voices, representing repre-senting the 12 wards of the Roosevelt Stake will participate in Salt Lake City at the annual June M.I. A. convention, according accord-ing to Mrs. R, V, Larson, Stake M.I.A. president, I Saturday evening 300 members mem-bers of the Melchizedek priesthood priest-hood met to get the conference sessions underway. Members of the Stake presidency President Hollis G. Hullinger and Counselors Coun-selors R. V. Larson and W. Rus-sel Rus-sel Todd gave reports on the recent Salt Lake general conference, con-ference, and urged members to perform more diligently their work in the priesthood quorums. Crowds of 750 and 600 were present, respectively, at the Syn day morning and evening- sessions, ses-sions, i i 1 Principal speakers at the morning morn-ing general session included Le-land Le-land M. Angus, president of the High Priests quorum and a former member of the Stake Presidency, and James E. Bacon, president of the Uintah Basin Indian mission. Two recently returned missionaries, mis-sionaries, Duayne Houtz and Garn Lloyd, gave reports on their experiences, and a chorus chor-us directed by Clyde Johnson, sang two numbers. The closing remarks were given by President Presi-dent Hullinger. At the afternoon session W. Russel Todd, Stake first counselor; coun-selor; Florence P. Nielson, president pres-ident of the Stake Relief Society; So-ciety; Lela Labrum, president of the Stake Primary; Jesse Hullinger, Hul-linger, superintendent of the Stake Sunday School; Don A. Johnson, superintendent of the Stake W.M.M.I.A.; and Dr. Larson, Lar-son, Stake second counselor, were the principal speakers. Two musical numbers were presented pre-sented by the Neola ward, a solo so-lo by Mrs. Thelma McConkie and a song by a ladies' triple trio. |
