Show uu 1 THEATERS AT THE ORPHEUM. Tho Orpheum greeted its friends last night to the first show of the season with as sparkling a bill as could be desired. Every Seat in tho house was filled. This great turn-out encouraged the actors to do their best and the audience, appreciating the work, was generous wllh applause. The headline, 'The Leading Lady," must bo seen to be appreciated. It is a tabloid musical comedy and from start to finish there Is not a dull moment mo-ment In the act. Miss Marguerite Ilaney, the leading lady, is a charm-lug. charm-lug. ivacious little creaturo who captures cap-tures the audience "from the moment she appears upon the stage. Ralph Lynn, In the part of tho earl, keeps everyone laughing by his clever comedy com-edy work. His brother, Basil Lynn, is clover as the valet. The costumes worn by the pretty girls of the chorus are numerous and dazzling, and the stage settings and electrical offects are excellent, Tunaful music and novel dancing add to the excellence of the. production. "Between the Races' is the title or a snappy racing playley, acted by the Wro. Raynor-Vlolot Keen company The settings depict a race track and a real race horse gives the act a realistic re-alistic touch. Harry Godfrey and Veta Earl present pre-sent a pleasing skit, entitled "Aboard for Abroad," Tho scene is tho deck of a ship. A boy, bound for Europe, and a girl bound for Conc meet and each thinks the other is on the wrong boat. Both members are versatile and the sketch la broad enough to give r their talents full play. After amusing the house with "Hypnotizing a Wife," the Lovinos furnish some excellent muHic and cartooning. car-tooning. Mr. Levino drew a perfect likeness of our popular John McClos-keyi McClos-keyi Two Salt Lake girls contribute to the bill this week. MIbs White, performing per-forming on the harp and piano, and Miss Hartley, on the violin, are very good. The Flying Weavers produce an aerial novelty by means of a circling apparatus from which thoy do unusual un-usual feats while hanking by their teeth.
