Show American Legion again back in business The American Legion is back in the business of being part of the community, commun-ity, with its hall again open, according to Bill Green. The Moab Sportswear sewing factory has now occupied their new building, build-ing, he said, vacating the Legion Hall on Jan. 15. Since that time the hall has been cleaned and the entire interior painted, along with needed repairs being made. Said Green, members can be justly proud of their Post home. On Feb. 21 the annual Legion-sponsored Americanism Ameri-canism oratorical contest was held at Grand County High School. Participants were Kathy Shafer, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Prommel Shafer, Mary Alice Walker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hilton Walker, and Robert Raymond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Raymond. Robert and Mary, respectively, re-spectively, took first and second place and will compete in the zone contest, to be held in Salina. The American Legion Hall will be available for use by large groups. To date, a wedding and reception, and a cattlemen's cattle-men's conference have used the facility. Legion activities planned plan-ned include regular meetings meet-ings the first and third Thursdays of each month. There will be a Legion birthday in March, along with various other social activities. Members are urged to attend the next meeting on March 16 to help plan the future of the Post, said Green. |
