Show Boy Scout News... The Cub and Webelo Scouts of the second ward LDS church held their Pinewood Derby last month. Cub Master Lawrence Rowley was in charge and many of the boys' fathers helped. Cub Scouts entering cars were: Mike Pierce, Rodney Zohner, Robert Hines, Paul Shafer, Shawn Stainbrook, Paul Stewart, Ian Getter, and Eric Hobbs. Webelos entering the derby were: Edward Rowley, Charlie Ames, Wyatt Zohner, Bruce Black, and Jim Holyoak. Winners for the Cubs were first, Robert Hines; second, Rodney Zohner; and third, Mike Pierce. In the Webelos division Wyatt Zohner took first, Edward Rowley was second and Charlie Ames came in third. Awards were given to Wyatt Zohner for the most beautiful car, to Mike Pierce for the most original origi-nal and for the Cub Scout Special to Paul Shafer. Robert Hines was declared declar-ed the Grand Champion. The second ward LDS Scouts also held their Blue and Gold banquet recently in the new LDS church. Famines of the boys were invited and awards were given to the Scouts by Cub Master Lawrence Rowley. Mike Zohner, den chief of the Cubs and Arthur Hines, Webelos den chief assisted in fixing tables and in other activities of the evening. Scouts receiving awards were Jim Holyoak, Bruce Black, Edward Rowley, Wyatt Zohner, Charlie Ames, J. R. Stocks, Danny Johnson, and Douglas Hines. At the banquet three Webelo boys received their Arrow of Light Award. Danny Johnson, Doug Hines and Jim Holyoak went through the tunnel formed by the other Scouts to receive their Arrow of Light. Arthur Hines explained how to use the plaques that they were given. The three boys were welcomed into Scout group 310 by Scout Leader Dave Engleman. Larry Johnson was thanked for making the plaques for the boys. |
