Show Action taken on Senior Center The Senior Center Committee met March 7 and took several steps towards the goal of obtaining a senior citizen's facility in Moab. Three priority actions were targeted for immediate work. They ue contacting two architects for building plans; getting land officially official-ly designated as a site for the center; and informing Four Corners Regional Commission Director Bruce Armstrong of Grand County Coun-ty s intent to apply for new funds vailable in October. The committee was informed that only $50,000 or less is still variable in monies for such a Prject currently, but that new tonds would be aUocated in October. The need for letters of support from city, county and local organizations was discussed and the Literary Club, which formed the Senior Center Committee, will elicit these. A subcommittee will meet with architects and report back to the committee. During the meeting floor plans of other centers around the state were studied and specific local needs discussed. Activities now going on in the senior center include dinners, quilting, exercise classes, blood pressure clinics, cards, lapidary and parties. A kiln should be in use soon. In addition several community commu-nity groups meet in the building. |
