Show Deadline Extended for Vehicle Use Comments Regional Forester Vern Hamre announced today that additional time is being granted for the public to make comments on proposed regulations concerning off-road vehicle use on National Forest System lands. "These proposed regulations, reg-ulations, which were printed in the Federal 1 Register on March 2, comply with Executive Order 11G44," said Mr. Hamre. "Because of w idespread public inter-1 inter-1 est. the original April 2 deadline for accepting comments is being extended ex-tended to May 1." The proposed regula- tions provide foradmin-1 foradmin-1 istrative designation of specific areas and trails ' on National Forest Sys-' Sys-' tern lands on which use J of off-road vehicles shall be allowed, re-j re-j stricted, or prohibited. m The objective is to control con-trol and direct the use of off-road vehicles so as to protect the resources, promote the safety of users, and minimize conflicts among the var- ( ious uses while providing provid-ing opportunity for en- joyment of off-road vehicle ve-hicle recreation. All persons who wish to submit written data or views regarding the proposed Federal Regulations Reg-ulations may do so by submitting them to the Department of Agriculture, Agricul-ture, Forest Service, Division of Recreation, South Agriculture Building. Build-ing. Washington, D.C. 20250, by May 1. A copy of the regulations, regula-tions, along with the Draft Environmental Statement and administrative adminis-trative instructions, may be obtained from the Regional Forester's Office and Forest Supervisors' Super-visors' Offices in the Intermountain Region. |
