M.D.. of Moab. has completed com-pleted continuing education educa-tion requirements tore-tain tore-tain active membership in the American Academy Acad-emy of Family Physicians, Physi-cians, the national association as-sociation of family doctors. doc-tors. The Academy formerly for-merly was called the American Academy of General Practice. The requirements call for members to complete com-plete a minimum of 150 hours of accredited continuing con-tinuing medical study every 3 years. Members Mem-bers become eligible for re-election at the end of the third year following follow-ing their election to membership. The Academy, Acad-emy, the country 's second sec-ond largest medical association, as-sociation, is the only-national only-national medical group that requires members to keep up with medical progress through continuing con-tinuing education. The Academy, founded in 1947 and headquartered headquarter-ed in Kansas City, Mo., was instrumental in the establishment of a new-primary new-primary medical specialty spe-cialty in family practice in 1969. The new specialty special-ty is expected to increase in-crease the number of family physicians available avail-able to serve the public in the future. The Academy's Acad-emy's continuing education educa-tion program is the foundation foun-dation of eligibility for , family doctors now in practice who apply for certification in the new specialty. |
