Utah Thursday, September 12. 1957 Page 9 Kindergarten Sets Classes A private non-prof- it organization is providing full-tim- e kindergarten classes for more tnan three dozen tots is the southeast area for the third consecutive year. Utah Supplementary Education is the organization, and Mr. Joy F. Dunyon, prominent East Mill Creek educator, is its director. Aim of the program, said Mr. Dunyon, is to help provide a full school year of kindergarten class-wor- k for children who would get only a six-wee- k session otherwise. Because of crowded buildings, Granite School District operates the summer session of only six ( weeks for kindergarten children. I USZ is operating in two loca-tions East Mill Creek and also (the Winder Ward on Highland j Drive. Billie Dean Hansen and jGeraldine Simmons teach the clas-jse- s of about 23 children each. Classes are in session from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each school day during the year. Course of study is the same as that used in Salt Lake City kindergarten classes. "We want USE to be as profes-sional as possible," said Mr. Dun-yon, "so we have qualified to be-come cembers of the National Kindergarten Association, and the Association for Childhood Educa-tion." Attendance at USE classes gives students a full year of classroom experience before their enrollment in the first grade. Office of the Utah Supplemen-tary Education is at 1057 East 2100 South in Sugar House. td.-myj- whim I' in i w mQVJWmmni. " 't-ywryv- - 1 . . -- n,-- , - ... ;- -. ,,..V. , ! ." j: . I - .1 ' ..
