Show ATTENDS SOCIAL SERVICE INSTITUTE Mrs. Wallace Worthen returned Saturday from Salt Lake City where she spent the past six weeks attending the Relief Society Social So-cial service institute. Mrs. Worthen was sent to Salt Lake by the St. George stake Relief Society. Meetings were held from 9 to 2 every day except Sunday in the bishop's building. In this class there were eleven from Utah and eleven from Idaho. From 7 until 9 in the evening, field work was taken up which consists of visiting vis-iting the poor and seeing to their wants. Mrs. Amy W. Evans, instructor in literature of social work, gave a lecture each day. Prof. M. F. Knoall. sociology teacher at the L. D. S., lectured each day. Other lecturers were Mrs. Annie D. Palmer Pal-mer .several of the doctors in Silt Lake, who lectured on diseases, superintendent su-perintendent of schools, and the juvenile officer. Mrs. Worthen also visited the children's hospital, the deaf and dumb school in Ogden, Neighborhood Neighbor-hood house, mental hospital at Provo and the detention home. |
