Show Rio Grande Enthnotogical Study Tour Limited space is still available for persons interested in-terested in a Rio Grande Enthnological Study Tour which will be offered June 23 July 1 as part of the Southern Utah State College summer school program. The nine day camping tour of the Rio Grande Valley will include stops at Aztec Ruins' National Monument, San Juan Pueblo, Taos, Santa Fe, San Ildefonso, and Albuquerque. Enroute to New Mexico, the Hopi, Paiute, Navajo, and Apache reservations will be visited. "There is still space available for persons interested in-terested in this study tour," Allen C. Turner indicates that prehistoric and modern Pueblo life will be studied through interpretative lectures, participant observation, ob-servation, and presentations by local people. "Participants are expected ex-pected to supply their own sleeping bags for the trip," he said. "Bags can also be rented from SUSC for a nominal daily fee." The ethnological study tour is available for three hours credit in Anthropology 292 and 492. A $75 travel fee will be required of all participants. par-ticipants. A special one-week American Indian En-thnology En-thnology Seminar will be held June 18-22 at SUSC. This afternoon seminar is available for two hours credit and is an ideal orientation, Turner said, to the Rio Grande study lour. "This week-long seminar will allow participants to study the ethnology and cultural history of the Indians In-dians of North America, with special focus on the great Basin and southwestern south-western cultures," Turner said. "It will provide participants par-ticipants with a good look at all the Indian cultures that will be visited during the ethnological study tour." Additional information about both the study tour and the ethnological seminar may be obtained by contacting Professor Turner at 586-4411, extension 345, or the SUSC School of Continuing Con-tinuing Education at 58fi-4411, 58fi-4411, extension 224. |
