Show Convictions made; Sentences Passed Leslie Scott Burrows, age 20, who was charged with a 2nd degree felony of Theft by Receiving a Stolen Automobile and pled guilty to that charge last month, was committed by the District Court on June 4 to the Utah Division of Corrections for a 90- day evaluation, said study to be performed either at the Utah State Prison or at the Utah State Hospital, depending on which facility the Division of v Corrections deemed to be the most appropriate. ,. Burrows will be returned to the Fifth District Court at teh end of that 90-day period for sentencing by Judge J. Harlan Burns. Mark David Gotcher, who previously entered a not guilty plea to an Attempted Robbery Charge, a 3rd degree felony, appeared before the District Court Monday and withdrew that plea, entering instead a plea of guilty. The attempted robbery occurred on Feb. 21, 1979, in Cedar City, when an attempt was made to take Letha Bohnmeir's purse from her. The Court ordered that a presentence report be prepared on Gotcher, who will return to the Court for sentencing on July 2. Clayton Lee Calloway and ' his brother, Danny Ray Calloway, were arraigned on charges of Theft, a 3rd degree felony. The incident involved occurred on Jan. 19, 1979, when suspects entered Parowan High School and took tools and equipment having a value of between $250 and $1,000. Both Defendants pled guilty to the charges. These pleas were entered pursuant to a plea bargaining agreement, wherein that the State's prosecutor agreed to dismiss other pending theft charges against the Defendants in return for pleas of guilty to the present charge. Presentence reports were ordered on both Defendants; they are scheduled for sentencing on July 2. |
