Show CLUB WOMEN MAKE II PROTEST KHKT HALF-DAY SCHOOL The Home Culture Club met yesterday yes-terday at the home of Mrs. J. F. Hobbs, 2269 Adams avenue and held a very interesting meeting. The outlined out-lined program included a study of the Hindu poet, Tangore and brief papers on the lives of other poets. A review of "The West in the East" by Collier, given by MrB. Coolidge, was also a pleasing feature. A discussion ot the half-day school plan for the schools occupied a large portion of the time and a resolution was passed protesting protest-ing against hasty action by the board of education. There was a large attendance at-tendance and the resolution, which follows, was unanimously passed. "To the Board of Education of Og den City: "In view of the fact that a plan for a half-day session for our city schools has been announced with the probability of immediate adoption at least In our high school, we do hereby here-by make a protest against hasty action ac-tion and ask that the adoption of tho plan be delayed at least until the fall of 1914. "We believe that a wider publicity and a more thorough understanding among the cltlrens are essential to the working out of any plan that contemplates con-templates radical changes In the school system. Further; that in a matter of such vital importance to our children some free expression should be secured from our citizens before any changes are made." |
