Show 1 oo LARGE NUMBER OF DEFICIENCY CLAIMS Washington, Jan. 16. Secretary RJcAdoo has sent to congress a large number of estimates for urgent deficiency de-ficiency appropriations covering a arlety of state department, public building and other matters. He asked ask-ed for $23,094 for tho expenses of arbitration of outstanding pecuniary claims betwean the United States and Great Britain, $1,242 to reimburse the war department for the expenses of sending the army transport Buffor to Western coast for the relief of destitute Americans there. Another $1,000 to prevent epidemics, epidem-ics, to supplement a previous appropriation appro-priation of $1,000 which has proved insufficient to effect the eradication of bubonic plague infection among tho ground squirrel in California, i 1 and discovery of the plague infected rats in Seattle. Other items included $414 789 for a deficiency in the pay of officers and men of the navy. oo |
