HOLDS 1 CONFERENCE The Woman's Christian Temper ance Union held a conference estei-day estei-day at the First Methodist church, with a large attendance of members of the local union and visitors from other cities and towns in the state. Es"pecially interesting features of the conference were addresses by State President Mrs. Shepherd of the W. R T U and Thomas E. McKay of the Ogden stake presidency. Mrs, Shepherd spoke of the suffragette suffra-gette demonstration she had seen while in Washington and also about the demonstrations in favor of na tional prohibition that were made while she wraB there. She related some of her other experiences ex-periences in the east, while working in the interests of temperance and, In closing her talk, read a resolution that has been presented to all W. C T. U. organizations throughout the country, pledging the members to work for national prohibition.. Mr. McKay's address was on the subject of "Individual Responsibility,' and his dlscussiou of the many phases pha-ses of that question proved vei Interesting In-teresting Among other things he said that one of the most important things in life was individual responsibility responsi-bility touard God and humanity and that we should at all times concede the rights of others He also dls cussed Individual responsibility In the welfare of the community and the necessity of exercising the fran chlse of citizenship In voting good men Into responsible civic positions The complete program of the con ference follows: Singing.
