Packey McFar land, according to Manager Emll Thi-ry Thi-ry and some of the fighter's intimate j friends, would not pass up his match with Mike Gibbons for anything else that could be offered him in the box inx line It is a well known fact that McFarland has been "riled " by criticism of his match making meth od8 In the past two years. Glove enthusiasts en-thusiasts realize that many of Pack ey's matches in the past were won outside of the ring. The South-slder invariably has had the other fellow licked before he started. The Britton match at Milwaukee, after af-ter which McFarland was suspended for a year for refusing to weigh in according to the state law, capped The climax. McFarland lost friends that night He outweighed Brittoi several pounds, and because Jacl made Packey do the leading he hac McFarland looking bad all the way though Packey won the fight The adverse criticism that followed stung McFarland into action. He told his manager to get Mike Gibbons, anJ they've got him. The Gibbons match is McFarl-jnd's chance to redeem himself and he ir not going to let the opportunity slip awajT.
