Palt Lake's population increased by 7750 during 1914, according to the estimate esti-mate of the city water department, based on the number of new service connections made. 11 In 1?13 the department estimated the water population at 100,000, this Including Includ-ing only residents connected with city water, there being many homes using; urtesian wells or connected with small Independent systems. At the close of 1914 there were 21,550 connections, an Increase of 1530. The department uses the multiple of live, which is the multiple used universally throughout the country, in determining the water population. Five times 21.T-50 gives a total water population of 107.750. This increase 1p shown in the annual report of C. F. Barrett, water superintendent, superin-tendent, now being prepared. The report will show that the dally per capita t-on sumption of water increased in-creased half a gallon in 1911, as r-ompared to 1913. despite all the efforts of the department de-partment to conserve the water and teach the people to refrain from useless waste. The daily average of water consumption during tho year was 20,jS.fi00 gallons, as compared to IS. 616. 000 for 1913. This represents rep-resents an increase from 1S6 2-10 gallons to ISO 7-10 gallons per capita. |
