Show Gunnison Sugar Company Will Distribute $350,000.00 I "Barring the slight storm Monday, nothing of- a serious nature has come up to interfere with sugar campaign at our factory," stated W. Harvey Ross, president and general manager for the Gunnison Sugar Company, to a newsman news-man Wednesday morning. Mr. Ross came down from Salt Lake Tuesday evening and made a general survey ol the conditions associated with one of the largest sugar beet campaigns since the building of the factory, and he U more than delighted with the cooperation cooper-ation being shown by the growers in getting the beets to the factory and the performance of the huge factory. "Beets are making more and better sugar today, due to the completion of the ripening system," continued General Manager Ross, "and this is highly gratifying. The grower, too, is greatly benefitted, as greater tonnage ton-nage is being added. Altogether the conditions are fine and we are all rejoicing re-joicing over the fact that climatic conditions have been favorable for the success of the crop." With the completion of the October deliveries of beets and Just as soon as the tonnage is checked, the first checks will be distributed among the growers, it was announced. According to tht contracts with the growers, the first check payment is scheduled, for November No-vember 10th, but in keping with the. policy of the company, payments will be advanced some eight or ten days. The first payment to be distributed will be approximately $350,000. The payment, coming as it will, will prove a boon to the farmer who selected beet growing as a vocation.- Gunnison Valley Val-ley News. |
