Show Nelson places in state meet . A I i v - '! Kris .Nelson ol the Cedar High School Rednien picked up a sixth place finish in the State 3A Wrestling championships cham-pionships held this past week at the Marriott Center on the I'.righam Young University campus. Nelson, a sophomore, was the only one of the seven Hedmen who advanced to the state finals to place in the state-wide competition. Nelson won his opening round match against Lind-sey Lind-sey of Carbon and defeated Steve Howden of Union in the second round action. Kris's first loss came in the semifinals semi-finals against Frank Jaramillo of Uintah, the eventual champion and then lost a decision to Frnie Ilerrera of Cyprus to pick up the sixth place finish. Kendall I'arry of the Redmen wrestling at 105 pounds won his opening round match over Tim Simonich of Tooele but was defeated in his next two matches. The first loss was at the hands of Kerry Norman of Box Flder, the eventual champion and then to Bruce Jenkins of Springville. Stan Torgenson of the Redmen lost his opening round match against Brad Funk of Uintah and was eliminated from further competition. Scott Shakespear also lost his opening match losing to Pat KND OF YKAIl. Tracy Kldredge and Wendy Stubbs present a gift to Leiloni Bentley at the end of the Ranunettes marching season. mm i AWARD GIFT. April Evans, Sydnee Stevens and Natalie-Bentley Natalie-Bentley give flowers to PUS Coach Kirn Heppler. Torres of Tooele, as did George Deltore of the Redmen at 138. Detoro was decisioned by Alan Porter of Davis. Kevin Robinson of the Redmen, wrestling at 107 won his opening match against Joe Potter ol Carbon then suffered a loss at the hands of Jelf Oyler of Bear River. In the wrestle backs, Robinson decisioned Gordon Mart of Union but was eliminated by David Day ot Payson. |
