Show Cub Scouts, parents enjoy get-to-gether PAROWAN - Parowan Third Ward Cub Scouts and their families enjoyed a delightful afternoon last Saturday under the direction of their leaders, Mr. and Mrs. LeeRoy Orton, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Decker Orton. The group met in the Cultural Hall, where a delicious dinner was served consisting of Sloppy Joes, salads, cheesecake and homemade root beer. Immediately following, the Pinewood Derby Race generated much excitement for the boys and their anxious fathers. Tension mounted as the little wooden racers went through a double elimination contest, after which winners were declared in two brackets. Receiving the first place trophy i was Jared Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Adams. Kyle Orton, young son of Mr. and Mrs. LeeRoy Orton gained consolation honors and was also presented a trophy. Each boy received a certificate of participation in recognition of their effort. Special guests at the events included members of the Ward Bishopric and their partners - Bishop and Mrs. Reginald Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Matheson; Primary President Mrs. Dennis Lowder and her husband, and Stake Primary President Mrs. Carl Evans. |
