Show PIONEER MOTHER HONORED, SUNDAY Mrs. llhoda Cannon was honored hon-ored by a large attendance of ward members, townspeople and members of the family at a program pro-gram held in the Dixie College auditorium, Sunday morning, at 11:30 under the direction of Hishop's Councellor Hilton E. Moody, of the South Ward. Vocal solo, "Little Old Church in the Valley," Ranulna Cannon, a grand-daughter. Prayer, Woodruff Cannon. "A Tribute to Grandmother," Miss Audrey Burgess. "The Life of Mother," Walter Cannon. "The Cannon Family Relationship." Relation-ship." Mrs. Eva Webb. "Tributes to Grandmother," were given by seven of her grandchildren: Clive, Ronald. Junior, liob, retry and Elaine Cannon and Clyde Burgess. A piano duet, 'Claytons Grand March," was rendered by Mrs. Mildred McKnight and Miss Evelyn Eve-lyn Cannon. Elder James McArthur, who was for years Bishop of the West Ward, told of his long association asso-ciation with Mrs. Cannon, of her years of faithfulness and service and how much he appreciated her friendship. The closing prayer was offered by Kenneth Cannon. Mrs. Rhoda Cannon was bora in Salt Lake City. May 7, 1S5S, a (laughter of Robert and Mary-Crook Mary-Crook Knell. She moved from Kaysville to Pinto when a child of four with her parents and spent her childhood there. At the age of 19 she came to .St. George with her father and one of her sisters and worked in the temple. She received her endowments on March 14. 1S77 and in June of the same year was married to David H. Cannon by President WUford Woodruff of the St. George Temple. Mr. Cannon was then an assistant to President Woodruff. She was the mother of eleven children, eight Of whom are now-living. now-living. Following the death of a daughter, Mrs. Rhoda Bryner in March, 1914 she took her two small children Horace and Afton Bryner whom she raised to man and womanhood. Two of her sons, Robert and Clarence died In Infancy. Her loving kindness, kind-ness, thoughtfulness and courage cour-age have made her a wonderful mother and she has the love and respect of the people here. Her children are: Mrs. Eva Webb, of Hurricane, Mrs. Clara Burgess and Woodruff. Walter. Vernon. Earl and Harold of St. George and Douglas of Tremon-ton. Tremon-ton. She has twenty-five grandchildren grand-children and one great grandchild. |
