S white spot just under its chin The other had I white feet and S white ears I got the rabbits from a Si man who lived at the head of the I street He had as t i 2 many as a dozen N SiSli I carried ant an-t S apronful clover i to his rabbits every morning for a week Then he gave me mine I was a little girl then I called the rabBIts Dumnorix and Orge torix My big sister was reading Cajsars Gallic War and she picked out the Latin names Thty seemed to me very grand Orgetorix had the most white in his fur S I put the rabbits into a barrel turned down upon its side and because didnt Know now to make a proper sort of coop I took some brushwood sticks and sharpened the ends with a hatchet and drove them into the ground close together so as to forma form-a kind of fence closing in the rabbits playground play-ground The rabbits looked very cunning scampering I scam-pering about inside and I pulled clover for them and brought them young lettuce loaves and carrots and gava them sweet apples I very much wanted to eat myself But Dumnorix and Orgetorix kept on growing They were wee mites of rabbits I whon I first had them and when they stood on their hind legs their noses didnt reach anywhere near the top of the fence around the coop I had built for them But day by day those noses stretched up higher and before I knew it their big blue eyesit is only white rabbits you know that nave pink eyesand their long ears peeping over the stick fence were the first things Id see when I came out at the kitchen door and they heard my step on the piazza under the woodbine One day Dumnorix gave one great jump and wriggled clean over my pickets I was pulling dandelion blossoms and sticking the yellow heads in long lines through the cracks between the boards of the piazza and so I saw him I caught him by his long ears ana cubbed him and dropped him back where he belonged After that I had chases after him every day Id have lost both rabbits sure if it hadnt been for the kitten But I havent told you about Divitiacus That was the gray kitten named like the rabbits out of Czesar Divitiacus was always in the coop with the rabbits I do not know why but he seemed to like to sharpen his claws on the top of the barrel and then jump down in One day wOnt do you think I saw Or getorix stand up on his hind feet and start to jump over the fence when Divitiacus put up his paw and boxed his ears I rolled out of the hammock vith laughing Orge torix laid his ears down flat upon his back in a surprised sort of a way and wont to r nibbling my luncheon apple peacefully This is the part 1 dont expect you to behave be-have but it is true I never told it to anybody any-body who did believe it but Divitiacus kept those rabbits in the coop for me until 1 had time to get a lot of longer sticks and drive them down to make a taller fence outside out-side the other to give the rabbits a bigger yard Every time one of them would offer to stand up the kitten would stand up too and box him down I never heard of any other kitten so smart Mamma is the sky a curtain hiding the heaven from ourS our-S sight are the moon and sun but windows made to give the angels light Are the stars bright flushing indicated in the picture pic-ture for the large ones Clay pipes are too fragile and unsuited otherwise for this experiment > And now this is the way in which you may blow three bubbles and have one inside in-side the others Pour a little soap and water in a saucer in the middle of which place an ordinary cork Then take a little china doll and make it stand erect on a silver sil-ver dollar piece by applying a jittlo sealing wax to its feet and attach a small circular piece of pasteboardto its head Then moisten with the soapy water the edges of the saucer the cork tho dollar and tho pasteboard on the dolls head Next place the dollar on the cork in the saucer and set this latter on a goblet Now moisten in the soapy water the mouth of the toy trumpet and holding it above the doll blow your first bubble which wtll not burst at contact with the objects placed in the saucer because they are moistened with the liquid of which it is made Then take the copper tube moisten mois-ten it well for its whole length in the liquid and introduce it into tho large bubble bub-ble which will not burst Take up some of the liquid in the saucer and blow the second bubble just above the dolls head Stop when it has attached itself to the circumference cir-cumference of the dollar piece Tnus the doll will appear inclosed in a doubledome of glass Lastly withdraw the tube moisten it In the soap and water pierce with it the two bubbles and blow a third little one inside in-side them S If it rests in the circular pasteboard on the dolls head your exeriment will bo complete I Wit of the Small Fry A
