Show UTAH PHARMACISTS The Questions Than Will Be Propounded Thrrn The first meeting of the Utah board of pharmacy was held at the executive mansion man-sion These members were present F A Druehl C H McCoy F B Hurlbut W A Wade H S Pyne MrDruebl was elected president and C H McCoy secretary for the ensuing year The date of the first examination is set for Nov 101 > 92 at 9 1 m at the governors office in Sail Lake The different branches of education for examination were distri buted as follows Chemistry to C H McCoy Ph D Pharmacy to H S Pyne Materia medica posology and toxicology to W A Wade M D Prescription reading and pharmaceutical pharmaceuti-cal manipulation to P A Druehl Specimens and their preparation F B Hurlbut After careful study and much debate tho board have outlined a form of examination which they believe will fully demonstrate the ability of each applicant as a careful safe and fully qualified pharmacist and will meet the approval of all careful pharmacists phar-macists and tho public generally It is as follows Applicants for examination will be expected ex-pected to have at least 1 rudimentary knowledge the principles underlying the science of chemistry and the practice of pharmacy a sufficient knowledgeof mathematics math-ematics to be able to calculate percentage of solutions and convert one system of weiehts and measures into another to be sufficiently conversant with Latin to correctly cor-rectly read and interpret prescriptions recty prescrptons to be thoroughly acquainted with manipulation manipula-tion or practical work ln so far as pertains to percolation fusion solution triteration emulsification evaporation and other manipulations daily occurring at the prescription pre-scription counter to be familiar with organic or-ganic materia medico to bowell informed on posology and toxicology To arrive at this knowledge the applicant will required to answer in writing u U ii C Ten 10 questions on theoretical chemistry I chemis-try acy Ten CIO questions on theoreticalpharm acyTo identify give source uses and official preparation of twenty 20 drugs To read correctly fifty 50 prescriptions selected at random from various stores in the territory Fifty or more oral questions will be asked relating to dispensing manufacturing posology toxicology malaria medica chemistry and pharmacy The applicant will be required to compound com-pound prescriptions aa the examiners may I designate in order to show proper qualifications for dispensing I |
