Show AEC Proposes to Lease Ufah Uranium Land Washington D. C. Utah Representatives Gunn McKay today announced that the Atomic At-omic Energy Commision has issued a draft environmental statement on a proposal to lease about . 25,000 acres of AEC-controlled land1 on the Colorado Plateau of Utah, New Mexico and Colorado (or future production of Uranium re Congressman McKay reports that the statement was being issued pursuant to the Com-nissibn's Com-nissibn's announcement in November of 1970 that the AEC was planning to resume leasing of these lands, most of which are located in the Colorado Uravan Mineral Belt. The Utah Congressman also said the AEC statement was being circulated to Federal, State, regional and interested interest-ed private groups or individuals indivi-duals for comment to be fac- tored into a final environmental environ-mental statement in accordance accord-ance with the National Environmental En-vironmental Policy Act of 1969. Copies of the statement are available for public inspection, inspect-ion, according to Congress-man Congress-man McKay, at the AEC's Public Document Room fh Washington, D. C. and at the AEC offices in Grand June-tion, June-tion, Colorado and Albuquerque, Albuquer-que, New Mexico.
