Tho dinner din-ner will begin at 6 p.m., although al-though some demonstration 1 will begin earlier in the nf ternoon. The' Scouts, in addition tu serving a delicious dinner of bybecued beef, dutch oven potatoes, baked beans, roAK beer, coffee and hard rolls, wilt." .'.provide.' 'entertainment. Beginning at 4 p.m. will 'is the annual Pine-wood Derby for Cub Scout units from Moab Mo-ab and Green River scheduled schedul-ed to participate. Later in the evening other displays of Scouting skills and entertainment entertain-ment by the troops will presented. For those attending attend-ing the dinner who do n.t wish to eat meat, fish v"iH be provided. Tickets for the evening can be purchased from any Boy Scout or Cub Scout prior tc the barberue or at the dinner itself. The Scouts are holding a contest for individuals and units to compete for prizes for those who sell the mosL. Tickets are $7.50 for a family, fam-ily, $2.50 for adults and $1.25 for children. Safari Breakfast Saturday morning beginning begin-ning at 7 a.m. Moab Lions Club members in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce Com-merce will stage a Jeep Safari Sa-fari breakfast with residents as well as Safari guests invited in-vited to attend. The breakfast, break-fast, which costs $1.50 for adults ad-ults and 75 cents for children under 12 years of age, will feature bacon, pancakes, eggs and sausage. Leaders of the various Safari Routes will be on hand at Lions Park at this time to discuss the trails with participants. The breakfast will also be held at Lions Park. Jeep Safari All recreationists who wish to join in the Safari should be lined up, four abreast, on Main Street by 9 a.m. behind be-hind the group leader for the trail they wish to take. Participants Par-ticipants are cautioned Uint this is one event which leaws on time. Anyone not in line at 9 a.m. can be expected to be left behind. Those persons in town early should plan to sign the guesf book provided by the Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce at the City Market parking lot on Friday Fri-day afternoon. Maps of th various trails, Jeep Safari stickers and other information informa-tion will be available at that time. Signing the guest book will place registrants on mail-, ing lists for future events sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Chairman of the Safari,. Harold Jacobs, stated this week that Hi-Land Dairy will this year provide ice cream for participants. This noontime noon-time treat will be dropped .along .al-ong the various routes by Hub-Air Flying Service at noon. As in the past, another route has been added this year. The new trail will take visitors to the White Rim-Lathrop Rim-Lathrop Canyon area. Once again there will be tours to Gemini Bridges, Pritehett Arch (Behind the Rocks), Moab Rim Trail, Arches National Na-tional Park, and Poison Spider Mesa, the trail which was added last year. Sunrise Service A special and unforgettable part of Easter in Canyonlands Country is the sunrise service held in Arches National Park at the LaSal Mountain Viewpoint View-point turnout. All faiths in Moab will be represented and all visitors- and residents alike al-ike are invited to attend. Special to the services this year will be a community choir. Because of the early hour, 6 a.m., and the cool temperatures, casual dress is usually the rule and warm clothing is advised. Following .the service, there will be enough time to trav- el some of the routes not taken on Saturday's Jeep Safari. Maps of the tours may be picked up on Friday and Saturday and most of th2 routes are signed. It is no: recommended that any of the routes be taken by a lone vehicle and pairs of Jeeps are generally safer in case of emergency. |
