Show Peppy Enterprise Quintet Hands Redmen Defeat in Overtime Fracas A surprisingly strong, extremely extreme-ly tired but victorious basketball "five" from Enterprise left the floor of the College of Southern Utah fieldhouse last Thursday evening after finally downing the Redmen of Cedar City by a score of 44 to 42 by playing two extra periods beyond the regulation 36 minutes. It was a game that see-sawed back and forth from beginning to end. The lead in scoring changed chang-ed hands 12 different tirems dur-ing dur-ing the contest and a four point margin was the greatest at any point of the game. The Redmen pulled to a two point 10 to 8 advantage at the end of the first quarter of play on field goals by Jerry Frame, Roger Haycock and Jay Perkins and three foul pitches by Sheldon Shel-don Heffner and one by Terkins. Enterprise, on the other hand, had failed to score a field goal. However, they had hit eight times from the charity mark in 10 tries. G. Hunt led the Waives In the first eight minutes, dunking five fouls in six attempts. He continued his effort from the foul line in the second quarter by tossing In three in five tries. Enterprise Gains Lead Enterprise's first field goal didn't did-n't come until the two Region Six teams had gone four minutes and 10 seconds into the second quarter of play. At that point, however, they had tied the Red-men Red-men at 11-all and the field goal, by Phelps of Enterprise, put his team into 13 to 11 lead. The half-time half-time score evened out at 16-all. Frame, leading scorer for the Redmen, tanked the first two points of the game and was held scoreless from that point on to post two points at half time. At the opening of the third quarter Enterprise's Hammond hit from the field and Ronald Mclntyre followed suit to move the score to 18-all. Two field goals by Frame, one by Heffner and two foul pitches by Haycock moved the Redmen into a 'two noint, 2G to 24 third quarter lead. Two charity tosses by Heywood in the fourth quarter gave Cedar a four point margin, the largest that was obtained during the game. Most Valuable Player Hero honors for the evening would have to be stacked on G. Hunt of Enterprise. His timely ' foul shooting in the first two quarters, two charity tosses in . the fourth that tied the score at ; 35 to 35 and a field goal, his only one during the game, with ; one second in the first overtime period that tied the score at ! 39 to 39, made him the most 1 valuable man on the floor. In the first overtime period, after a 35 to 35 tie in the regular ' playing time, Cedar broke into the lead with two quick foul I pitches by Frame, his first from the foul line. He missed four in a row in the fourth period. Enterprise Enter-prise bounced back, however, to tie it up at 37 all with two fouls by Holt. Haycock scored a field-goal field-goal to move the Redmen into the lead. Delayed Field Goal It was at this point with three seconds showing on the clock that Hunt grabbed a slow pass from Haycock to Heywood and raced down the floor to score two from the field to even things at 39 all. Actually the ball was in the air as the buzzer sounded. During the overtime period Frame and Perkins fouled out. In the second overtime period Enterprise took the initiative again from the foul line and with a single field goal by Hammond to take a 44 to 38 lead. Haycock hit from the field in the last minute and McCall hit one from the foul line to move to 42 but lacked two points of equalling the Wolves and the game ended end-ed with Enterprise in control.
